A cooperation agreement in favor of issues that impact the global trade of poultry products was signed this Monday (21) by the president of the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), Ricardo Santin, and the United States Poultry and Egg Export Council (USAPEEC), Greg Tyler, in Paris, France.
According to the document, both entities will work together to overcome issues that hinder the flow and impact the global supply of products, such as protectionism, health issues, among other policies.
The agreement also involves discussing the role of the World Poultry Council and other topics of common interest. The work topics include:
Environmental or ecological sustainability as a guideline in poultry production and trade;
Animal health, sanitary and food safety regulation based on the principles of sound science and appropriate risk assessment;
Support for the continued development of the poultry industry and international trade;
International relations based on cooperation and negotiation and mediation to resolve differences;
Promotion of sound science and free trade;
The document establishes the holding of periodic bilateral meetings to encourage the exchange of information and the strengthening of actions, especially on topics such as animal health, availability of grains for feed and fuel, use and availability of water, biosafety, food safety, food security, waste, waste management, environment and others.
“We are competitors in the international market, which does not prevent us from working together and cooperating on issues that are of interest to both countries, as well as to importing nations,” says Santin.
According to him, building high-level bilateral relations is fundamental to strengthening free global trade.
